Job summary

University of Washington in Seattle seeks a Senior Workday Payroll Engineer to support Tier 3 Application Management for Workday HR/Payroll. This role administers, configures, and maintains UW’s Workday environment to meet business needs and ensure reliable payroll operations.

The position emphasizes Workday configuration, system administration, and cross-functional collaboration, with a focus on data integrity, reporting, and security in a SaaS context. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Workday HR/Payroll domains with increasing responsibilities.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Workday HR/Payroll (or similar) HCM, Compensation, Academic, Talent, Recruiting, Learning, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, or Payroll modules.
• Experience analyzing complex HR/Payroll system processes and implementing configuration changes to support operational, compliance, and business requirements.
• Experience supporting system testing and data validation activities.
• Experience with reporting, data, and security in a SaaS environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience interacting with customers to resolve complex inquiries and perform under high-volume times.

Responsibilities

• Workday Configuration and System Administration, 70%: apply knowledge of Workday system administration, design concepts, data conventions, workflow dependencies, and technical inter-dependencies.
• Conduct systems analysis to identify enhancement opportunities and implement complex Workday configuration changes.
• Develop and promote detailed configuration and administration guidance to optimize system functionality.
• Research, configure, test, and troubleshoot Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) integrations for data loading, including template setup and issue Resolution.
• Advanced Operational System Administration, 20%: collaborate with cross-functional Workday teams to configure, enhance, and maintain enterprise HR/Payroll solutions.
• Serve as an advanced systems administrator and application leader by resolving complex user and stakeholder inquiries.
• Knowledge Management, Training & Communication, 10%: maintain stakeholder relationships, update knowledge repositories, and deliver training materials for Workday users and admins.
