Job summary

C.A. Murren & Sons Company, Inc. is seeking a Work Planning and Control Manager to lead the creation, review, and release of multidisciplinary work packages for a large construction project.

You will coordinate across engineering, quality, project controls, procurement, and field operations to ensure packages are complete, constructible, and aligned with schedule and turnover requirements. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical education and extensive work-planning experience.
  • At least 10 years of construction/work planning experience, including 5 years in regulated environments and 3 years leading planners or a work-control org.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of formal work-package development, field walkdowns, configuration control, hold/witness points, quality records, material control, testing, LOTO interfaces, turnover, and schedule integration.
  • Working knowledge of formal quality assurance programs and graded quality approaches, with the ability to flow quality requirements into working-level instructions.
  • Ability to read multidisciplinary drawings, specifications, P&IDs, line lists, vendor docs, civil plans, electrical drawings, and schedules.
  • Strong leadership, prioritization, facilitation, technical writing, and electronic work-management skills.
  • Experience with MAXIMO, Asset Suite, or comparable work-management systems.
  • Experience planning heavy civil, underground utilities, process piping, welding, and commissioning interfaces preferred.
  • AWS CWI and at least 5 years of welding, fabrication, and production-planning experience preferred.
  • Formal work planning/control, project controls, constructability, or human-performance training preferred.
  • Experience managing package closure and field-change/backlog recovery on large regulated capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Establish work planning, package development, review, release, field-change, suspension, turnover, and closure procedures.
  • Lead development and independent technical/editorial review of detailed procedures and multidisciplinary work packages.
  • Manage discipline planners and package priorities to support schedule milestones and turnover.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and constructability reviews to define scope, access, sequence, and prerequisites.
  • Ensure packages include current drawings, specs, classifications, approved changes, submittals, materials, tools, and acceptance criteria.
  • Integrate inspection plans, QC points, and required tests; coordinate with QA and turnover teams.
  • Coordinate with welding leadership to ensure QCPs, weld maps, NDE, and repair documentation are in place.
  • Define test boundaries and required approvals for pressure-test and electrical packages.
  • Ensure procured material release is traceable and free of unapproved substitutions.
  • Control package revisions and maintain configuration through turnover updates.
  • Establish readiness reviews and closure checklists for records, NCRs, and turnover indices.
  • Track planning quality, RFI backlog, material delays, and corrective actions.
