Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Bend, OR is seeking a Senior Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) to join the Wireless Communications Section. You will help operate, maintain, and support the statewide radio infrastructure, lead complex projects, and guide teammates in a fast-paced, safety‑conscious environment.

This journey level role offers opportunities to expand expertise in two-way radio, microwave, and dispatch center systems while serving state public safety users.

Qualifications

• Five years of information systems experience in wireless systems or equivalent education/experience combination.
• Experience with radio, microwave, and dispatch center systems is preferred.
• Ability to lead or assist with complex statewide projects.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose user problems on the statewide Public Safety Wireless system.
• Troubleshoot major system failures of radio, microwave, and dispatch centers.
• Lead and coordinate with wireless staff on large statewide problems.
• Support mobile and portable radio needs with repairs and programming.
• Mentor other Wireless Technicians and contribute to system documentation.
