Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Bend is seeking a Senior Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) to own and operate critical statewide radio infrastructure. You will lead complex projects, troubleshoot the statewide Public Safety Wireless system, and support dispatch centers with repairs and programming for mobile and portable radios.

Qualifications

• Five years of information systems experience in wireless systems (two-way radio, microwave).
• Associate’s degree in CS/IT or related field, OR completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program; AND three years of information systems experience in wireless systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS with one year of information systems experience in wireless systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and support Oregon's statewide Public Safety Wireless system.
• Lead complex team projects and coordinate with Wireless staff.
• Provide repairs, programming, and assistance to mobile and portable radios for Public Safety users.
• Mentor other Wireless Technicians.
• Plan implementation schedules and ensure equipment configuration complies with specs.
• Climb towers and work with high voltages.
