Job summary

Atoms is seeking a Senior Harness Engineer to own the vehicle harnesses from design through fabrication and inspection. This hands-on role spans design, routing, and testing across platforms, with ownership of fabrication and supplier coordination.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years designing automotive or robotic harnesses, strong documentation skills, and experience in IPC/WHMA-A-620, CAN networks, and PLM systems. Onsite work in San Francisco is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical/mechanical/aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years designing and releasing wire harnesses for vehicles, autonomous systems, or robotics.
• Experience producing buildable harness documentation (schematics, drawings, pinouts, BOMs) in a CAD tool with 3D routing.

Responsibilities

• Design wire harnesses connecting sensors, compute, power, and interfaces on on-road vehicles.
• Produce and release complete harness package with drawings, pinouts, wire lists, BOMs, and 3D routing.
• Define routing, protection, and service loops; verify fit, bend radius, and strain relief on first install.
• Build and test prototype harnesses in house; lead first articles and production releases with partners.
• Write work instructions, inspection criteria, and end-of-line test procedures; manage engineering changes.
• Ensure IPC/WHMA-A-620 compliance; perform pull tests, crimp height checks, and hipot testing.
