Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Systems Architect Senior to lead design, deployment, and governance of Windows Server and VMware environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. The role emphasizes security, cost efficiency, and alignment with HIPAA and NIST requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years of experience in engineering support of large complex highly available Windows architectures (2016, 2022, 2025).
• 5 or more years of experience in a related role requiring customer service, organization, prioritization, troubleshooting to design services and workflows in an enterprise architecture.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture. Focus areas include Public Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Continuity & Resiliency, Windows OS, VMware Virtualization, and Automation.
• Partners with business analysts, systems analysts, process managers and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews; facilitates technical discussions to produce a high-level conceptual design.
• Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions; maintains technical architecture artifacts.
• Collaborates with Automation team to support standardized Windows Server builds for on-premises and cloud workloads; develops automated server build processes using PowerShell, XAML, and Ansible.
