Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Specialty Technician to join our Nashville team for field observations and inspections across diverse projects. You may work with steel, perform NDT/NDE, and participate in sampling, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Applicants should have ASNT NDT Level II and multiple advanced certifications, plus a willingness to pursue additional high-level credentials.

Qualifications

5+ years of related experience.
High School diploma or GED.
Must have ASNT NDT Level II certification(s) and at least 2 additional advanced industry certifications from NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM.
Current pursuit of or ability to obtain maximal certifications in the above categories.
Position requires carrying 40–70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
Must provide suitable transportation for use on job sites – Mileage will be reimbursed.
Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
Advanced working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
Expert understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
Ability to work at heights and with clients, peers, and supervisors.
Proficiency with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
High-level ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans.
Basic knowledge of MS Office.
NDE equipment calibration focus if NDE testing.

Responsibilities

Perform observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement.
Execute tasks based on project requirements under supervision of senior staff and project managers.
Inspections may occur in fabrication facilities or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels.
Conduct observations of structural and reinforcing steel including welded or bolted connections using testing equipment and industry standards.
Testing may include GPR structural surveys, material verification, and corrosion surveys.
Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections; draft and maintain field equipment.
Maintain daily communication with site contractors and project team; attend project meetings and report results and provide technical advice.
Receive training in ECS methodology; document findings precisely; mentor other technicians.
