Job summary

Norfolk Naval Shipyard seeks a Supervisory Equipment Specialist to lead the Crane Maintenance Division, Code 730, within the Lifting and Handling Department. The role oversees schedules, budgets, and workforce development for Weight Handling Equipment maintenance.

The position requires coordinating inspections, maintenance planning, and compliance with NAVFAC standards while directing work through subordinate staff to meet deadlines and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience applying knowledge of lifting and handling practices and repair of Weight Handling Equipment.
• Experience applying cost estimation techniques, evaluating work processes, and developing maintenance strategies.
• Experience planning and scheduling maintenance activities for WHE maintenance/operations.
• Experience testing and inspecting weight handling equipment in mechanical, electrical, and structural areas.
• Experience understanding NAVFAC P-307 and related safety directives for WHE operations.
• Experience directing and accomplishing work through subordinate employees and planning schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide managerial and administrative duties for division operations.
• Plan and schedule long-range work and ensure priorities are met.
• Develop and formulate the division’s budget for labor, equipment, materials, and training.
• Plan resource allocation and train division employees.
• Assign work across Branches and streamline operations.
• Develop, review, and maintain division memos and internal procedures.
