Job summary

Alta Planning + Design is seeking a Web and Digital Studio Lead (Associate I) to guide a multidisciplinary team and contribute to complex websites, data-driven tools, and marketing tech solutions. You will shape digital capabilities while delivering client-facing digital products and integrations.

You will lead a team, mentor staff, manage contractors, and help grow Alta’s digital portfolio with emerging technologies and reusable components across projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional full-stack web development experience with leadership of complex web/digital projects.
• Experience managing teams and supervising technical contractors/vendors.
• Expert-level with core dev tools: VS Code, Git/GitHub, Docker, WSL or macOS, CI/CD.
• Strong frontend stack: JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS; frameworks Vue/Nuxt/Astro/Vite.
• Python with FastAPI or Django; PHP familiarity a plus.
• GIS/web mapping experience (ArcGIS, Mapbox).
• Dashboard/data visualization experience (Tableau).
• Experience with design/prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe CC).
• Strong client-facing and consultative skills; translating goals into tech solutions.
• Clear communication; ability to explain tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
• Interest in sustainable transportation/city planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack development of websites, apps, dashboards, and data tools from specs to deployment.
• Define technical architecture including frontend/backend frameworks, databases, APIs, hosting, security, analytics.
• Create interactive data visualizations for geography/time/demographics.
• Integrate GIS data and mapping platforms into web products.
• Develop or coordinate Python data processing, workflows, and APIs.
• Oversee integrations with databases, CRMs, CDPs, and marketing platforms (Salesforce/HubSpot/Ortto).
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility across design, development, testing.
• Lead QA/QC for code, integrations, and responsiveness.
