Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks an experienced Senior Web Developer to join the Web and Digital Studio within the TDM Marketing & Creative Services team. The role combines full-stack development, GIS integration, and data-driven web solutions while collaborating with designers, GIS staff, planners and project teams.

You will build reliable, accessible digital products across varied environments and contribute to emerging digital services within Alta’s practice.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional web development experience delivering production web apps or data-driven digital products.
• Expert-level comfort with VS Code, Git, Docker, WSL or macOS, and CI/CD workflows.
• Advanced experience with modern front-end ecosystems and frameworks.
• Backend experience with Python (FastAPI or Django); PHP a plus.
• Experience with geospatial GIS web mapping platforms and data visualization tools.
• Proficiency with design/prototyping tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites, web applications, dashboards, calculators, and internal tools.
• Create data-driven experiences with maps, charts, and narrative content.
• Integrate GIS data and web mapping platforms into web products.
• Develop APIs and data-processing workflows using Python frameworks.
• Connect web products to external databases and marketing platforms.
• Configure analytics, SEO, accessibility, and performance best practices.
• Collaborate with designers, GIS staff, planners and project teams across the firm.
• Perform code reviews, QA/QC, and mentor junior developers.
• Explore new technologies to keep Alta's digital products at the leading edge.
