Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Senior Web Developer to join the Web and Digital Studio within the TDM Marketing & Creative Services group. The role focuses on building complex websites, web apps, and data-driven tools while collaborating with designers, GIS and data staff, planners and project teams.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional web development experience delivering production web apps or data-driven products.
• Strong command of modern front-end tech: JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS; Vue/Nuxt/Astro/Vite.
• Python with FastAPI or Django; PHP familiarity a plus.
• Experience with GIS web mapping platforms (ArcGIS, Mapbox).
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
• Proficient with design/prototyping tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to discuss technical topics with diverse audiences.
• Genuine interest in sustainable transportation or city planning.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites and data-driven web apps with accessible, high-performance interfaces.
• Create interactive experiences for geography, time, scenarios, or demographics using maps and charts.
• Integrate GIS data and mapping platforms into web products.
• Develop APIs and data workflows using Python (FastAPI/Django).
• Connect web products to external databases and marketing platforms; support analytics setup and SEO.
• Collaborate with designers, GIS staff, planners and project teams; contribute to R&D.
• Perform QA/QC, code reviews, and mentorship to teammates.
