Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Senior Web Developer to join the Web and Digital Studio, delivering complex websites, web apps, and data-driven tools. You will work across GIS, marketing, and planning teams to create reliable, accessible digital solutions and APIs in a collaborative environment.

You will contribute to emerging digital services, data-intensive applications, and the ongoing evolution of Alta’s web practices while ensuring performance, accessibility, and cross‑functional

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional web development experience with production web apps or data-driven digital products.
• Expert-level tools: VS Code, Git/GitHub, Docker, WSL or macOS, CI/CD workflows.
• Advanced front-end: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS, Vue/Nuxt/Astro/Vite.
• Python with FastAPI or Django; PHP a plus.
• GIS/web mapping experiences (ArcGIS, Mapbox).
• Tableau or data visualization experience.
• Figma and Adobe CC for design collaboration.
• Strong communication; interest in sustainable transportation or planning.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites, web apps, dashboards, and internal tools.
• Integrate GIS data and web mapping into products (ArcGIS, Mapbox).
• Develop APIs and data workflows using Python (FastAPI/Django).
• Connect products to external databases and marketing platforms.
• Configure analytics, SEO, and performance best practices.
• Collaborate with design, GIS, analytics and IT teams; mentor peers.
