Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Senior Web Developer to join the Web and Digital Studio within the Transportation Demand Management group in Portland, OR. You will build and maintain full-stack websites, interactive dashboards, and data-driven tools while collaborating with GIS, planning, and marketing teams.

The role emphasizes development for web applications, integration with GIS platforms, and the continuation of Alta’s digital services; a hybrid work schedule and strong benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional web development experience delivering production web apps or data-driven products.
• Strong front-end skills: JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS, Vue/Nuxt/Astro/Vite.
• Proficiency with Python using FastAPI or Django; PHP is a plus.
• Experience with geospatial GIS web mapping and data visualization tools.
• Familiarity with Tableau and design/prototyping tools like Figma/Adobe CC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; interest in sustainable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites and dashboards with accessible, responsive interfaces.
• Collaborate with designers, GIS, planners, and project teams across the firm.
• Review code, perform QA/QC, and contribute reusable components and tools.
• Lead and mentor peers while exploring new technologies to advance Alta's digital products.
