Alta Planning + Design, based in Portland, OR, seeks a Senior Web Developer III to lead full-stack projects, interactive dashboards, and data-driven tools while collaborating with designers, GIS and data staff, planners, and project teams across the firm.

The role emphasizes reliable, accessible solutions with QA/QC, and opportunities to contribute to emerging digital services, APIs, and platform integrations across ArcGIS, Tableau, and marketing technologies.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of professional web development experience
• Expert-level with core development tooling (VS Code, Git, Docker, WSL/macOS, CI/CD)
• Advanced experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS and frameworks (Vue, Nuxt, Astro, Vite)
• Python with FastAPI/Django; PHP familiarity a plus
• Experience with GIS web mapping platforms (ArcGIS, Mapbox)
• Familiarity with Tableau for data visualization
• Experience with design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
• Strong written and verbal communication; interest in sustainable transportation or city planning

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites, web apps, dashboards, calculators, and tools
• Integrate GIS data and web mapping into products
• Develop APIs and data-processing workflows with Python (FastAPI/Django)
• Connect web products to external databases and marketing platforms
• Configure ArcGIS/StoryMaps/Experience Builder or Tableau as needed
• Set up analytics, SEO, and WCAG accessibility
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams; QA/QC and testing
• Contribute reusable components and explore new technologies
