Alta Planning + Design seeks a Senior Web Developer to join the Web and Digital Studio in the TDM Marketing & Creative Services group in Portland. You will independently deliver production websites, web apps, and data-driven tools while collaborating with designers, GIS, planners, and project teams.

The role blends full-stack development, APIs, data visualization, and QA/QC, with opportunities to advance digital services.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional web development experience
• Expert-level tooling: VS Code, Git/GitHub, Docker, WSL or macOS, CI/CD
• Advanced front-end: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, CSS/SASS; Vue, Nuxt, Astro, Vite
• Python with FastAPI or Django; PHP a plus
• GIS web mapping (ArcGIS, Mapbox) experience; Tableau familiarity
• Experience with data visualization/dashboards; Figma & Adobe CC
• Strong communication; interest in sustainable transportation or city planning
• Bachelor’s/associate in CS or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack websites, apps, dashboards, and tools from wireframes and design systems
• Create interactive data explorations using maps, charts, and narratives
• Integrate GIS data and web mapping platforms into web products
• Develop APIs and data workflows using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django)
• Connect web products to external databases, CRMs, and marketing platforms
• Configure ArcGIS/StoryMaps or Tableau integrations as needed
• Set up analytics, SEO, and accessibility best practices
• Collaborate with designers, GIS staff, planners, and project teams
• Provide code reviews, QA/QC, and mentorship to peers
• Lead technical exploration and development of reusable components
