Job summary

BLN24 is seeking a Senior Application Developer to support the NOAA AWIPS program, a critical nationwide weather data platform. You will design, build, test, and deploy scalable software for 24/7/365 operations, collaborating with UX, DevSecOps, QA, and product teams in an Agile environment.

The role emphasizes microservices, RESTful APIs, cloud integration with AWS, and automated CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on reliability, security, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong system design and scalable app development.
• Leadership experience in Agile environments.
• Hands-on with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, EKS) or equivalent.
• Experience with microservices, APIs, testing, CI/CD, and Git.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable, secure software for mission-critical weather systems.
• Support enhancements and maintenance of the AWIPS platform.
• Collaborate with UX, DevSecOps, QA, and product teams in Agile.
• Develop and maintain scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven services.
• Ensure code quality via unit tests, reviews, and best practices.
• Integrate with AWS services and cloud-native patterns (EC2, Lambda, S3, EKS).
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Tune performance, monitor, log, and troubleshoot in 24/7 ops.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and quality.
• Document designs, implementations, and operational procedures.
