Job summary

Lynker is hiring an Operational Applications and Infrastructure Developer to support SWPC, focusing on operational app development, AWS integration, and containerized Python services. This full-time role requires designing, testing, and deploying reliable scientific applications across data processing and cloud ecosystems.

The successful candidate will work across the full SDLC, implement CI/CD, and ensure production readiness for mission-critical systems with 24/7 operational support.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in atmospheric science, space physics, geophysics, engineering, CS, math, information systems, or related STEM field; 10+ years of experience.
• Strong Python backend development, data processing, automation, API development, testing, and maintainable code design.
• Experience containerizing apps using Docker or equivalents; AWS cloud services and deployment pipelines.
• Experience designing, querying, and troubleshooting relational (SQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB or MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and sustain operational scientific applications supporting SWPC forecast operations and data integration.
• Develop Python-based backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, and automation scripts.
• Containerize applications and services to improve portability, scalability, and cloud readiness.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, and CI/CD workflows aligned with SWPC modernization.
• Integrate applications with AWS services, cloud-native infrastructure, and data storage platforms; support production operations.
• Provide Tier 3 on-call or escalation support for database and operational scientific applications.
