Nash Harbor Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Analyst in Silver Spring, MD to support NOAA National Weather Service dissemination programs and operating information systems. You will administer databases, ensure data quality, generate reports, and contribute to mapping efforts that support weather and emergency communications nationwide and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform Database tasks on NOAA dissemination systems such as NWR, NWWS, ISCS, EMWIN and HazCollect – Legacy (HCL).
• Develop, maintain access and correct databases.
• Perform accurate database entries and mapping data for NWR sites and charts.
• Contribute to the team effort in resolving DST tasking and meet performance objectives.
• Provide weekly updates to the Team Lead on assigned tasks and schedule/deliverable variances.
• Prepare articulate responses and documentation for public inquiries, SOPs, and ad hoc reports.
• Make minor website text additions.

Position Overview:

The Senior Database Analyst supports NOAA National Weather Service dissemination programs and operational information systems. This position is responsible for database administration, data quality management, reporting, mapping support, and analysis activities that help ensure the reliable distribution of weather and emergency communications throughout the United States and internationally. The ideal candidate combines strong database management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to support mission-critical operational systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform Database tasks on the NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS), International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS), Emergency Manager’s Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) – Legacy (HCL).
• Develop, maintain access and correct databases.
• Perform accurate database entries, corrections, and use in mapping efforts for NWR sites and charts.
• Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all DST tasking and meeting performance objectives.
• Provide weekly feedback to the Team Lead and Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks noting any schedule or deliverable variances.
• Provide articulate, well written responses, tailored to the intended audience to include responses to public inquires, Standard Operating Procedures, documentation to accompany detailed reports, and other ad hoc documentation as requested.
• Make minor additions (add text) to the website.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal English communication at levels from novice to expert.
• 5-7 years of experience in General Engineering
• Ability to function well as part of a team
• Data‑Driven Mindset – Uses data as the foundation for insights, strategies, and actions.

Experienced with Microsoft Excel:

• Lookup tables
• Selection (dropdown) lists
• Ability to manipulate and export data

Experienced with Microsoft Access

• Develop and maintain relational tables
• Lookup tables
• Develop complex queries from multiple tables
• Scripting to create queries to update data and generate reports

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scripting (Python, Perl)
• Experience with GIS

Physical Demands:
