Job summary

Mind Robotics, based in Palo Alto, is building Physical AI for real-world industrial deployment. We seek a senior mechanical engineer to own the wearable platform's mechanical architecture, guide design for head- and body-worn devices, and set budgets and tradeoffs with optics and electronics teams.

You will lead hands-on prototyping, run structural and thermal analyses, mentor the team, and drive tooling strategy with trusted vendors.

Qualifications

• Exceptional mechanical intuition and understanding of forces, materials, and mechanisms.
• Owned mechanical architecture of shipped wearable devices end to end with clear tradeoffs.
• Experience packaging cameras, sensors, compute, and batteries into space-constrained enclosures with tight tolerances.
• Hands-on knowledge of injection molding and polymer selection from design to tooling and production.
• Experience with soft goods and textiles integration with ergonomic considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical architecture of Mind's wearable data collection platform across head-worn and body-worn devices.
• Set mechanical requirements for optics, electrical, and compute teams; manage budgets, keep-out volumes, and mass allocation.
• Decide which mechanical problems each device generation tackles and maintain focus.
• Own build and tooling strategy: what is printed, machined, molded, or bought; select tooling partners.
• Set design review standards, tolerance analysis practice, and DFM expectations for vendors.
• Stay hands-on: build, test, and break prototypes; run tolerance, structural, drop, and thermal analyses.
• Grow the mechanical bench through design review and mentoring on the wearable stack.
