Join Our Team as a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager at HDR

We are seeking a Senior Water / Wastewater Project Manager to join our Water Business Group in Vienna, VA, Washington, DC, or Fulton, MD. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams in engineering planning and design projects related to wastewater and drinking water systems.

Responsibilities include:

1. Implement Utility Management Services for water and wastewater utilities, including program, asset, and maintenance management.
2. Lead infrastructure renewal, rehabilitation studies, cost analyses, project development, and preliminary designs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of medium to large water and wastewater projects, including scope, planning, and execution.
• Interface effectively with clients and lead engineering, GIS, and data management teams to produce detailed plans, designs, and cost estimates.
• Develop design criteria, perform modeling, and oversee engineering reports and drawings.
• Implement QA/QC and risk management plans, ensuring project standards and client expectations are met.
• Support detailed design work as needed, demonstrating strong technical expertise.
• Collaborate across regions with leadership and technical staff to uphold HDR’s standards of technical excellence.
• Engage in client management, marketing, and strategic planning activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering; MSc preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in water/wastewater utility engineering.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS, hydraulic modeling, and maintenance management systems.
• Experience in infrastructure design, system treatment, and planning.
• Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
