Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region in Louisiana or Texas. A PE license and civil engineering degree are required, with 5–10 years of municipal design experience and strong hydraulic modeling skills.

The role involves designing pumping stations, water treatment and distribution systems, and coordinating with CAD staff and clients. You will manage budgets, schedules, and regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Valid Professional Engineer license (P.E.).
• 5–10 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Municipal design experience including pump stations, pipelines, and water/wastewater facilities.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling (WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.).
• Understanding of Civil Site projects, ADA, and building codes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
• Develop site plans including grading, drainage, and utilities.
• Manage project tasks, design, permitting, and construction coordination.
• Coordinate with staff and external clients to ensure timely project completion.
• Produce quality plans and support QA/QC procedures.
• Ensure designs stay within client budgets.
• Attend meetings with clients, regulators, and site stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules.
