Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region in Louisiana or Texas. A Professional Civil Engineering License is required, with 5–10 years of relevant experience.

The role involves designing water/wastewater systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities, managing projects, and coordinating with CAD staff, interns, and inspectors. Strong communication and budgeting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Valid Professional Engineer license (P.E.).
• 5–10 years of relevant engineering design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
• Develop site plans including grading, drainage, and utilities.
• Manage project tasks, design, permitting, and construction coordination with staff and inspectors.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external clients to complete projects.
• Produce quality plan sets and adhere to Volkert’s QA/QC policy.
• Ensure designs stay within client budgets.
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Exhibit strong project management, monitoring budgets and schedules.

Are we the road to your future?

We are currently searching for an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support ourSouthwest Regionlocated in Louisiana or Texas.

To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a Professional Civil Engineering License.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, water treatment systems, water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, and treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions
• Develop site plans including grading, drainage, and utilities
• Managing project tasks, project design and permitting, construction coordination, and providing regular communication and guidance with other staff members (CAD technicians, Engineer Interns and Construction Inspectors)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and external clients to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects
• Producing quality sets of plans along with checking the work of others and following Volkert’s QA/QC policy
• Produce designs that stay within the budget set by the client
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to fulfill any regulations and requirements relating to projects
• Exhibit strong project management skills and monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules

What You Need To Have

• Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.)
• Minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant engineering design experience
• Relevant municipal engineering experience including designing pump stations, pipelines, water/wastewater treatment facilities
• Experience performing hydraulic modeling (using programs such as WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.)
• Experience in Civil Site projects and understanding of ADA and building codes
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Bonus Points If You Have

• PE Licensure in Louisiana and/or Texas preferred
• 10+ years of relevant experience preferred
