Job summary

ERG seeks a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our Water and Wastewater Engineering team. You will collaborate with the EPA, state agencies, utilities, and other organizations to address water quality, resources, and infrastructure challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or a related engineering discipline
• 20–25 years of experience in water resources management, wastewater treatment, and municipal water/wastewater design
• Demonstrated expertise in developing engineering reports from preliminary assessments through final design
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance standards
• Knowledge of federal water/wastewater funding programs, financing mechanisms, and eligibility requirements
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to lead and mentor technical staff while delivering high-quality work and meeting objectives
• Collaborative leadership to motivate teams and build client relationships
• Experience in engineering consulting including project management, client development, proposals, and contracts

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage staff providing technical assistance to small, underserved water utilities nationwide
• Support utilities in securing funding and designing, constructing, and maintaining water infrastructure
• Assess and promote innovative water treatment technologies and develop practical resources
• Evaluate design, costs, feasibility, and environmental impacts of projects
• Guide preparation, review, and delivery of preliminary engineering reports
• Manage environmental sampling and field surveys and prepare technical reports
• Provide guidance on funding program eligibility and requirements
• Lead business development, identify opportunities, develop client relationships, and support proposals
