Job summary

Jacobs in Richmond, VA is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Water business line to oversee civil infrastructure projects, observe and document construction activity, and enforce compliance with plans, specs and permits.

This role requires a minimum of 10 years in civil/MEP inspection, plus ICC/ACI/AWS certifications, and the ability to work long hours in the field, including site visits to multiple field locations as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience inspecting civil and MEP trades on civil infrastructure and building projects.
• Water/wastewater utility experience preferred.
• Experience with municipal agencies or utility infrastructure on public right-of-way sites.
• ICC, ACI or AWS Special Inspection certifications.
• VDOT Intermediate Workzone Safety training.
• DEQ E&S Control Inspector’s training.

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings and plans, verify compliance with contract documents and escalate deviations.
• Prepare daily field reports detailing work status, CPM activities, manpower and equipment.
• Maintain redlined contract documents for changes and field modifications.
• Identify non-compliant work and coordinate with the Project Manager and contractor.
• Document deficiencies and punch list items with photos and video as needed.
• Verify quantities, materials used and contractor time and materials costs.
