Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Construction Inspector to support water sector infrastructure projects. You will act as Owner's Representative, inspecting work, ensuring adherence to plans, specs, and permits, and documenting progress on a daily basis.

The role requires extensive field presence, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with daily commuting to Centreville, VA.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting civil infrastructure, structural and building projects.
• Experience with water/wastewater utility backgrounds preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to commute to Centreville, VA on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings, plans, and specs; inspect active work for compliance with contract docs.
• Prepare daily field reports detailing work status, CPM activities, manpower, equipment and observations.
• Maintain records of change orders, field changes, and punch list items.
• Take photos/videos of major activities and organize by date and subject matter.
• Verify quantities, materials used, and contractor resources.
• Review and verify contractor time and materials expense reports.
• Notify Project Manager and Resident Engineer of potential problems.
• Attend progress meetings and review contractor progress payments.
• Coordinate material testing requirements and review test results.
• Monitor erosion control devices weekly and after major rainfall events.
• Prepare pre-construction and post-construction site videos.
