Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years water treatment operations experience.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Virginia Class III license or the ability to obtain within 30 months.
• First Aid and/or CPR certification.
• Must comply with OSHA regulations including facial hair policies.
• Must participate in the Waterworks Division Mandatory Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Operate mechanical equipment such as pumps, filters, and feeders.
• Operate electrical equipment including meters, recorders, controllers, and monitors.
• Collect water samples for testing and perform laboratory analyses.
• Calibrate, maintain, service, repair, and replace equipment as needed.
• Determine proper chemical dosages for treatment processes.
• Prepare and inventory chemicals for use.
• Maintain accurate records of water treatment activities.
• Keep a safe working environment and perform regular preventive maintenance.
• Carry out plant maintenance and custodial duties as required.
• Stay informed on local, state, and federal regulations affecting water treatment.
