Job summary

Staunton City & Schools Public Works-Utilities in Staunton, Virginia seeks a Water Treatment Plant Operator IV to operate pumps, controls, feeders and filters. You will maintain equipment, keep records, and respond to emergencies on 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED or equivalent training.
• Ability to keep records, prepare accurate reports, and perform mathematical computations.
• Experience in mechanical systems or a VA Waterworks License preferred; trainee opportunity may be available.

Responsibilities

• Operate water treatment plant equipment including pumps, control panels, chemical feeders and filters.
• Repair and adjust equipment; maintain plant facilities.
• Read gauges, tanks and meters; keep accurate records.
• Dispatch emergency services for public works activities.
