Job summary

Dorchester County is seeking an engineering/administrative professional to support planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects. The role involves CAD/GIS work, Evolve management, and coordinating with multiple departments and developers.

The candidate will train staff, maintain maps, and assist with GIS data management, ensuring accuracy of parcels and easements as part of a team transitioning to paperless operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus one year of college or equivalent.
• Two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Produces CAD designs for water and sewer utility projects.
• Creates or revises record drawings indicating mains, valves, hydrants, manholes, etc.
• Reviews residential and commercial projects for code compliance with county standards.
• Manages the Evolve plan review software and coordinates with developers and departments.
• Establishes and maintains Evolve to review development plans and monitor construction start; communicates deficiencies and deadlines.
• Trains staff on managing Evolve projects.
• Leads and mentors staff in plat, plan, and record drawing reviews using Bluebeam for paperless transition.
• Prepares and updates county maps and drawings using manual and CAD methods.
• Researches property descriptions with GIS to verify parcels.
• Coordinates with survey staff for topographical surveys and design completeness.
• Generates hard copy and PDF GIS facility maps for customers as directed.
• Provides technical assistance to county departments, developers, contractors, and engineers.
