Job summary

Sambatek, LLC is seeking a senior water resources engineer to lead design and implementation of water resources solutions for transportation and land development projects. You will manage hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, drainage reports, and plan development while mentoring junior staff and ensuring technical excellence.

The role involves collaboration with MnDOT and municipal clients in a hybrid Minnesota-based setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
6–8 years of relevant water resources design experience.
Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
Demonstrated MnDOT drainage design procedures/standards experience.
Proficiency with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, XP-SWMM).

Responsibilities

Lead water resources components of transportation and land development projects.
Develop and review hydraulic/hydrologic models and drainage reports.
Serve as technical lead for MnDOT and municipal projects.
Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water resources design.
Oversee design using MicroStation, GEOPAK/OpenRoads, ensuring quality and efficiency.
Maintain strong client relationships and clear communication.
Mentor project engineers, EITs, and designers.
Support proposal development and project budgeting.
Foster cross-department collaboration and uphold technical standards.
