LJB Inc. in Dayton, OH seeks a Senior Water Resources Engineer with 8+ years of experience to lead a growing Water Resources Practice.

The role involves managing projects, mentoring staff, and delivering complex water resources solutions across the spectrum of civil infrastructure. Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with a water resources focus and a PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resources.
• PE license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent software.
• Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling preferred).
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and design of water resources and civil infrastructure projects (e.g., stream restoration, dam remediation, floodplain analysis).
• Manage projects from concept through design, permitting, and construction support.
• Oversee scope, schedule, and budget; ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.
• Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to maintain relationships.
• Collaborate with CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians to develop solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
• Travel to client sites across the U.S. as needed.

LJB Inc. is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer in Dayton, Ohio to help grow our Water Resources Practice in Ohio. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff. This person is comfortable working independently, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $91,000 – $140,000 base salary, based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Senior Water Resources Engineer Essential Functions

• Lead the planning and design of a wide range of water resources and civil infrastructure projects, including:
  • Stream and wetland restoration
  • Dam remediation
  • FEMA floodplain analyses and permitting (No-Rise, LOMR, CLOMR)
  • Culvert and bridge replacement
  • Stormwater planning and design
  • Watershed studies and asset management
  • Site/civil development and public utility design
  • Programmatic engineering support
• Manage and deliver engineering projects from concept development through final design, permitting, and construction support.
• Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
• Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians, to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.

Additional Responsibilities

• Travel occasionally to client sites across the U.S. as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resources.
• PE license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent software.
• Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling experience preferred).
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Water Resources.
• Familiarity with GIS tools and applications.
• Experience with ODOT standards and hydraulic-related pre-qualifications.
• Demonstrated client/project management experience.
