Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to lead technically complex water projects across municipal and industrial clients in the South Water region. You will manage multi-discipline teams, maintain client relationships, and drive project success from planning through construction.

The role requires a strong background in design/construction, effective communication, and the ability to mentor others while expanding business opportunities in Texas and beyond.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience (15 years preferred) in design engineering.
  • Previous consulting and project management experience preferred.
  • Professional Registration in the state of Texas (ability to obtain Texas registration is acceptable).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, ability to work overtime on short notice.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (owners, contractors, engineers, designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Share ideas and boldly explore technical solutions and thought leadership.
  • Lead project teams through challenging requirements and overlapping schedules with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Coach and mentor other professionals to shape future leaders.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on all aspects of multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion, including safety, quality, risk, procurement, construction and environmental compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project life cycle.
  • Leverage client relationships, create new relationships and focus on repeat work within each client account.
  • Support business strategy for developing new business opportunities.
  • Position Burns & McDonnell for upcoming projects and opportunities.
  • Provide direction as part of the sales team for events, conferences, and industry engagement.
  • Offer industry feedback to the water leadership team and mentor project teams.
