Job summary

City of Sacramento Water Division is seeking a Senior Plant Operator to lead operations across the drinking water and wastewater systems on assigned shifts. You will monitor SCADA, coordinate with teams, ensure safety, and optimize plant performance to meet quality and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in water/wastewater operation, a valid CA driver's license, and the ability to supervise staff while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of drinking water or wastewater facilities.
• Driver License required in California; ability to obtain higher class license if needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the operation, monitoring, and control of water and wastewater systems on an assigned shift.
• Plan and coordinate water treatment plant activities and respond to alarms.
• Train and supervise plant personnel; ensure safety practices.
• Monitor SCADA and water quality data; adjust processes as needed.
