Job summary

The City of Sacramento seeks an experienced Plant Operator to run two T5-rated surface water treatment plants and support related facilities. You will monitor SCADA, manage chemical dosing, and ensure safe, reliable drinking water for the service area.

Responsibilities include testing water quality, adjusting processes, maintaining logs, and coordinating with the Utilities Department. A valid CA Driver License and a T-2 Water Treatment Operator Certificate for surface water operations are

Qualifications

Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
One year of progressively responsible experience in operating a drinking water treatment plant or wastewater facility.
Ability to read instruments, measurements and logs.
Experience with SCADA and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Willingness to work day, swing, or graveyard shifts; ability to work weekends/holidays as required.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor two T5 rated surface water treatment plants on assigned shift.
Interpret water quality tests and adjust chemical dosages accordingly.
Monitor SCADA, regulate flows and pressures, and maintain logs and records.
Inspect and maintain plant equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and operate heavy equipment as needed.
