Job summary

The City of South Salt Lake's Public Works – Water Division seeks a Water Operator IV to maintain, install, and repair water utility equipment under the supervision of the Water Superintendent. This position supports the city’s water system integrity and service reliability.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, four years of related experience (two in water maintenance), Utah Class A CDL, Grade IV Distribution Water Operator certification, and the ability to pass a background check

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of progressively related experience; two in water maintenance/repairs.
• Valid Utah Class A CDL.
• Grade IV Distribution Water Operator certification.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, installs, and repairs water utilities equipment per schedule.
• Operates meters, storage, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Monitors pressures and telemetry; conducts safety procedures on site.
• Responds to service requests; turns water on/off as required.
• Completes work orders and records related to activities.
• Operates heavy equipment and maintains water system components.
