Job summary

The City of South Salt Lake is seeking a Water Operator III/IV to assist the Water Superintendent in maintaining, installing, and repairing water utility equipment according to the department schedule.

This non-exempt position requires a high school diploma, Utah driver license, and certifications such as Utah Class A CDL (including tanker) and Grade IV Distribution Water Operator, with Flagger certification preferred. The role involves field work, safety compliance, and 24/7 emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in construction, plumbing, or related field; water system operations preferred.
• Must possess Utah Driver's License and obtain required water operator certifications within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair water storage, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Monitor pressures, telemetry, and related equipment.
• Respond to customer service requests and manage on/off water service as needed.
• Complete work orders and records of activities.
• Maintain and flush hydrants; assist with PRV and booster stations.
