Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Sr Project Manager to lead civil engineering projects in drinking water utilities, pump stations, and water treatment. The role blends field oversight with office planning, client engagement, and QA/QC reviews, requiring a PE license and 10+ years of relevant experience.

The position includes supervising project teams, coordinating with field staff, and driving proposals, contracts, and client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineering License
• Minimum of 10 years of specialized experience in Drinking Water Utilities, Pump Stations, Water Quality, and Treatment
• Previous project management experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with local clients and regulatory agencies
• Ability to work both in the field and in office settings
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook
• Valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record as driving is an essential part of the position

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct individuals or teams of technical staff or Project Managers on multiple complex projects and/or less complex projects.
• Lead construction administration tasks including submittal reviews, meeting agendas/minutes, daily/weekly construction reports, payment applications, RFIs, and change orders.
• Coordinate with field staff and designers ensuring project closeout and tracking of schedules.
• Provide training, mentorship, and technical development of Project Managers and staff through seminars and guidance.
• Consult with technical staff and Project Managers on technical issues and provide QA/QC reviews.
• Identify risks related to nonstandard technical matters or insurance training to minimize liability.
• Oversee technical accuracy of projects through regular communication and plan/spec/report review.
• Make technical presentations to clients and at public meetings; lead projects from development to completion with budgets and risk management.
• Solicit new clients/projects and participate in proposal development and fee presentations.
• Prepare contracts/subcontracts and negotiate fees; participate in professional associations and conferences.
