National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead the structural design of King County Wastewater Treatment infrastructure, including buildings, tanks, catwalks and supporting facilities, and to review consultant team work to protect County interests. The role also updates and maintains division standards and guide specifications.

The position blends remote and in-person work in a hybrid model, and requires stamping plans as a WA-registered PE,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience including design and construction.
• Washington PE registration or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilités

• Prepare public works and procurement contract docs and cost estimates per bidding policy.
• Stamp and sign plans as a Professional Engineer or Architect in WA.
• Review shop drawings, advise on contract compliance, and review change orders.
• Review vendor construction plans to avoid conflicts with County facilities.

About The Role

This position will conduct structural design for King County Wastewater Treatment infrastructure including buildings, tanks, catwalks, supports and other facilities throughout the county. Additionally, it will review the work of other structural engineers hired as part of consultant teams assisting the consultant engineers in their design and reviewing their work to represent King County interests. The position will update and maintain King County Wastewater Division standards, including guide specifications and other design documents.

About The Role

This position will conduct structural design for King County Wastewater Treatment infrastructure including buildings, tanks, catwalks, supports and other facilities throughout the county. Additionally, it will review the work of other structural engineers hired as part of consultant teams assisting the consultant engineers in their design and reviewing their work to represent King County interests. The position will update and maintain King County Wastewater Division standards, including guide specifications and other design documents.

This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.

What You Will Be Doing

• Prepare public works and procurement contract documents and cost estimates to comply with County and State public bidding policy. Assist in the acquisition of all necessary permits prior to construction bidding.
• Stamp and sign engineering or architectural plans as a Professional Engineer or Architect.
• Review and approve shop drawings submitted by contractors, assist in the interpretation of specifications, advise on contractor compliance with contract documents, and review change orders when required by field personnel or as required by law.
• Review proposals from equipment vendors. Review construction plans of other agencies and/or building owners to ensure that County facilities are not in conflict with or endangered by adjacent construction or facilities.
• As directed, provide assistance with complex emergency repairs of wastewater facilities or when technical engineering assistance is necessary. May coordinate with the work of maintenance personnel or contractors to accomplish necessary repairs.

Qualifications You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or closely related engineering field.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience including project planning, design, and construction.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in State of Washington, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.
• Demonstrated experience in solving complex technical issues within a multi-discipline work environment.
• Experience in managing multiple, complex capital projects simultaneously within established timeframes, and costs.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Registration as a Professional Engineer in State of Washington, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.

• Familiarity with water, wastewater and/or industrial facilities and construction principles and techniques.
