Job summary

WaterFleet, LLC is seeking a Chief Wastewater Operator to supervise daily plant operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead a team of operators to deliver consistent, high-quality effluent. The role requires a TCEQ Class B certification, strong mechanical aptitude, and hands-on leadership across primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment stages.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; other education may be considered.
• TCEQ Class B Wastewater Operator Certification or higher is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Experience with SCADA and data reporting is preferred.
• Customer service experience and ability to communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Staff Supervision: Lead and manage wastewater operators, assign tasks, train, and evaluate performance.
• Plant Operations: Monitor and control all wastewater treatment processes and effluent quality.
• Compliance Management: Ensure operations meet environmental permits and regulatory deadlines.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs and parts.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Review data and generate regulatory and management reports.
• Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist with budgeting and identifying cost-saving measures.
• Emergency Response: Manage emergencies such as equipment failures or spills.
• Technical Expertise: Understand treatment processes and chemistry/biology knowledge.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
• Computer Proficiency: Use SCADA, data analysis software, and reporting tools.
• Perform routine tests: DO, pH, chlorine residuals, SV, ammonia, MLSS, etc.
• Maintain daily logs and records.
• Collaborate with system technicians and provide trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
