Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Senior Wastewater Operations Traveling Technician (SWOT) to operate and maintain wastewater plants at multiple locations across the country. The role requires extensive field experience, a wastewater license, strong analytical and leadership abilities, and willingness to travel 1–2 weeks or longer as projects demand.

The candidate will oversee startup and temporary operations, ensure compliance, train new operators, and coordinate with the Account Manager.

Qualifications

• Wastewater license (biological and/or physical-chemical) required.
• Willing to pursue reciprocity in other states as well as higher levels in wastewater treatment.
• 6+ years experience in wastewater treatment; college included.
• Operational experience with diverse WWTP systems preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
• Good communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to build a team mindset and provide training.
• Proficient in creating/updating spreadsheets and documents (MS/Google).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater plants to meet discharge permits and client requirements.
• Direct and support other shifts; delegate tasks based on personnel skills.
• Conduct lab analysis of waste streams and adjust processes.
• Communicate with Account Manager about operations and needs.
• Coordinate travel plans; Veolia covers travel expenses.
• Write or revise Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
• Analyze lab data; implement changes to prevent non-compliance.
• Submit daily/weekly reports to client and Veolia management.
• Train operators and facilitate cross-training across shifts.
• Ensure safety and coordinate maintenance activities.
