Job summary

Energetics Technology Center seeks a Senior Warhead Engineer to lead technical work on warhead and energetic subsystem development for DoD customers. You will guide concepts from requirements and design through prototype integration, testing, qualification planning and transition, using analysis and test data to resolve tough decisions.

The role is a hands-on technical leader, coordinating with design, modeling, test, safety, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of warhead design or related weapons engineering experience.
• Experience leading development or integration of warheads and energetic subsystems.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design, prototype, test, and reviews.
• Security clearance: U.S. Secret or higher, or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead warhead, fuzing and energetic subsystem development and reviews.
• Develop drawings, specs, procedures, and data packages.
• Direct prototype maturation and integration with teams and suppliers.
• Plan performance, environmental and qualification tests with clear criteria.
• Integrate modeling, simulation and test data to evaluate tradeoffs.
• Investigate test anomalies and guide design iterations and testing.
• Coordinate safety, risk mitigation and qualification activities with safety specialists.
• Present findings to government customers and review boards.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with subcontractors and vendors.
• Support proposals with technical approaches and realistic schedules.
