Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Energetics Engineer to spearhead the development of Solid Rocket Motors (SRM) and Warheads for advanced missile systems.

This role serves as the primary liaison for supplier teams, guiding design, testing, and integration efforts across programs. The position requires deep expertise in mechanical systems, MBSE, and thermal/structural analyses, with a track record of mentoring high-performing engineering teams and delivering

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 years and a Bachelor's degree; 8 years and a Master's degree; or 5 years and a PhD of relevant technical experience in SRM and Warhead development.
• Experience in developing requirements specification for mechanical subsystems.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools to perform responsibilities: CREO, ANSYS, ANSYS Icepack.

Responsibilities

• Personifies the AV pillar of Innovation.
• Lead development efforts of SRM and Warhead suppliers.
• Leads proposal development for energetics related to new missile programs.
• Interfacing between suppliers, AV, and customers on energetics efforts.
• Leads/implements thermal, structural, dynamic, and fluid flow analyses.
• Leads testing and data collection in lab and field.
