TDC Specialty Underwriters, Inc. is seeking an experienced VP Underwriting to lead underwriting, product, and distribution strategies for hospital and complex risk segments in the healthcare sector.

The role requires advanced technical expertise, market credibility, and independent decision-making to manage complex risks within authority. The successful candidate will influence underwriting guidelines, collaborate across claims, actuarial, and distribution teams, and mentor junior underwriters

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• RPLU or CPCU preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience in professional liability or related specialty lines.

Responsibilities

• Independently underwrites complex and high-severity professional liability risks within granted authority and guidelines.
• Evaluates risk characteristics, coverage structures, pricing, and terms to support profitable growth.
• Provides technical input into underwriting guidelines, policy forms, endorsements, and rating tools.
• Reviews non-standard or escalated submissions and provides expert recommendations.
• Participates in claim reviews and applies learnings to underwriting decisions.
• Maintains accountability for the performance of the assigned book of business.
• Reviews portfolio trends and identifies emerging risks or opportunities.
• Recommends underwriting actions or adjustments based on market and portfolio insights.
• Develops strong broker and customer relationships and supports new business development.
