Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Economics.
• RPLU or CPCU designation preferred or in progress.
• Eight+ years of insurance management or supervisory experience.
• Ten+ years in commercial general liability or professional liability underwriting, with related claims or product development experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate regional, department, and individual staff plans aligned to corporate priorities.
• Set performance expectations and identify gaps for each role.
• Coach staff and build capabilities to improve performance.
• Provide regular guidance to help staff perform effectively.
• Deliver quarterly 1:1 performance feedback and track progress in reviews.
• Develop succession plans for key positions and monitor progress quarterly.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines and ensure staff compliance.
• Oversee reports to ensure proper risk underwriting and pricing alignment.
• Analyze pricing and provide recommendations to support company strategy.
• Report regional underwriting results and take corrective actions as needed.
• Respond to staff inquiries and participate in committees and projects to boost customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with service areas to implement and monitor regional service plans.
• Manage broker/agent and member relationships, cooperating with Business Development.
• Oversee responses to vendors and regulators promptly.
• Develop and execute revenue and expense plans with ROO and Finance/SVP Underwriting.
• Implement pricing strategies to meet profitability targets and company goals.
• Monitor performance to hit production, retention, and rate targets.
• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual result reporting to senior management.
• Approve larger and more complex accounts when needed.
• Collaborate with business development to pursue new business.
• Support Underwriting CI efforts, including compliance reviews and filings.
• Work with product innovation on new or improved offerings.
• Participate in Underwriting Executive Committee and policy development.
• Align department culture with TDC values and act as a role model.
• Offer feedback on performance against values and maintain cultural norms.
• Handle extra projects and provide leadership updates to leadership.
