Job summary

Weave is seeking a VoIP Engineer to own and optimize a cloud-based voice platform. You will work hands-on with SIP/RTP infrastructure and core components like Kamailio, RTPengine, FreeSWITCH, and Homer, building Golang microservices and deploying in Kubernetes.

You will collaborate with engineering and operations, improving reliability, performance, and call quality while applying DevOps best practices and IaC across major cloud environments, including Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a VoIP network engineer.
• Experience with Kamailio, OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, RTPengine, and Asterisk.
• Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, sngrep, and Homer.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP networks and SIP/RTP protocols.
• Programming experience with Go, Java, or C.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and LUA.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure tools Terraform and Ansible.
• Comfort operating production services in major cloud environments (Google Cloud preferred).
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and incident remediation.

Responsibilities

• Grow and manage a distributed cloud-based VoIP platform.
• Optimize and troubleshoot Kamailio/FreeSWITCH configurations for performance and reliability.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain services supporting the voice platform.
• Monitor VoIP network performance and implement improvements.
• Troubleshoot call quality, signaling/connectivity issues, and outages.
• Develop Golang-based microservices and containers for the voice ecosystem.
• Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes environments.
• Maintain Kamailio and FreeSWITCH instances.
• Improve observability for SIP/RTP with HEP/Homer and telemetry.
• Collaborate with SRE/Platform teams to enhance CI/CD and IaC.
