Job summary

Long Finch Technologies, LLC. is seeking a Senior IT VMware Systems Engineer for a Jersey City, NJ hybrid role.

You will own the migration to VMware Cloud Foundation and manage a large-scale VMware estate (400–500 servers) with heavy automation using PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform, and Python. The role requires 5–7 years of hands-on VMware experience, expertise in vSphere, NSX-T, and vSAN, and strong collaboration with global IT teams.

Qualifications

5-7 years designing, deploying, and supporting large VMware environments.
Experience migrating legacy VMware sites to VMware Cloud Foundation or newer cloud-native stacks.
Strong automation using PowerCLI, vRA, Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell/Python.
Hands-on with Aria Operations suite (formerly vRealize Operations), VRLI, VRNI for analytics.
Understanding of enterprise storage and vSAN integration; deep networking knowledge.
Excellent communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders; Agile/ITIL familiarity.

Responsibilities

Lead migration to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF9) with zero downtime and security baselines.
Design and evolve VMware stack (vSphere, NSX-T, vSAN, Aria Operations, VRLI, VRNI) for ultra-low latency and high availability.
Implement IaC (Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI) to automate provisioning and lifecycle management.
Deploy AI-enabled agents for ticket triage, predictive alerts, and automated root cause analysis.
Create self-healing playbooks to remediate common performance or capacity events.
Configure monitoring thresholds, alarms, and dashboards in Aria Operations, VRLI, VRNI.
Coordinate with global teams to align with enterprise standards and security guidelines.
Participate in DR planning and testing; ensure quick recovery for critical workloads.
Provide Tier 2/3 production support and on-call rotations.
