Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior VMware and Nutanix Systems Engineer to design and manage scalable virtualized environments, focusing on VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Nutanix clusters. You will implement, optimize, and secure virtualization infrastructure while collaborating with application teams to ensure reliable delivery and performance.

The role requires hands-on expertise with Nutanix and VMware technologies, strong scripting, and experience in data protection and disaster recovery strategies.

Qualifications

• Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with ability to acquire SCI.
• Experience with Windows Server 2019/2025, VMware ESXi, Active Directory, SAN, SQL 2012/16, and VCP 7.X.
• Deep understanding of VMware virtualization technologies (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN).
• Expertise in Nutanix HCI architecture and management tools.
• Experience with Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Dell Wyse thin clients.
• Networking knowledge; scripting in PowerShell and Python.
• Experience with data protection and disaster recovery solutions.
• Willingness to work 40 hours/week; overtime when needed; travel 5-10% within 75 miles.
• MS Office familiarity (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, Visio).

Responsibilities

• Design and architect virtualized environments leveraging VMware and Nutanix technologies with scalability and redundancy.
• Implement and configure VMware ESXi hosts and Nutanix clusters with storage, networking, and compute integration.
• Manage lifecycle provisioning of VMs across VMware and Nutanix platforms.
• Monitor health and performance of clusters; address bottlenecks proactively.
• Troubleshoot virtualization, storage, networking, and app performance issues.
• Analyze system logs to identify root causes and apply fixes.
• Maintain security policies for access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
• Develop data protection strategies and test backup/DR procedures.
• Track resource utilization and plan capacity for growth.
• Collaborate with application teams to integrate apps into virtualized env.
• Provide technical support to users and IT teams.
