Job summary

The New York Times Company is seeking a Senior Staff Editor for Off Platform Graphics in New York, NY. You will lead the presentation of our graphics journalism across social, newsletters and print, guiding adaptation, editing and craft of visuals for diverse audiences.

You will coordinate with Social Visuals, Audience and Print Hub teams, ensure high-impact, independent reporting visuals under tight deadlines, and mentor a team of visual journalists to extend the reach of our journalism.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience producing and editing visual journalism or multimedia graphics at a major news organization.
• Strong writing and editing skills and experience synthesizing complex information under strict deadlines.
• Deep familiarity with visual storytelling devices (maps, charts, diagrams, 3-D modeling or motion graphics).
• Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) and Figma proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and execute unified visual styles to translate complex data into digestible assets for off-platform formats.
• Produce and edit news graphics under tight deadlines during breaking news periods.
• Guide and edit the work of other visual journalists translating interactives and graphics for off-platform formats.
• Lead all off-platform visual production and coordinate with Social Visuals, Audience, Graphics and Print Hub teams.
