Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Virtual Hardware Model Engineer to lead cross-functional modeling efforts for GVHE, translating physical phenomena into MATLAB/Simulink models and integrating them into CoSim workflows. You will collaborate with suppliers, product development engineers, and software teams to define requirements, build high-fidelity plant models, and support system-level co-simulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field and 5+ years in product development or systems engineering.
• Experience translating physical phenomena into mathematical/Simulink models (electrical, mechanical, software I/O).
• Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink or similar code-based model-based simulation tools.
• Track record delivering complex multi-domain models into SIL/HIL/CoSim workflows.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to lead and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity component plant models in MATLAB/Simulink emulating electrical, mechanical/physics, and software interfaces.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate hardware designs into modeling requirements.
• Implement models for GM CoSim environments with correct I/O definitions and naming.
• Parameterize and improve model fidelity using design data and test results.
• Support integration into system-level co-simulation and virtual testing environments.
• Lead model correlation and validation strategies and document assumptions and results.
