Job summary

General Motors is seeking a highly technical CAE-focused engineer to advance virtual battery modeling and multi-physics cell/pack simulations. You will develop, calibrate, and deploy electrochemical, thermal, mechanical, and safety models for EV applications across vehicle co-simulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of modeling processes and transport phenomena.
• 5+ years of battery modeling and analysis experience.
• MS or greater in related engineering fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Battery modeling, simulation, and calibration of multi-physics cell and pack models.
• Implement multi-physics models using COMSOL, MATLAB/SIMULINK, SABER, Python, PyBaMM.
• Collaborate with test teams to enhance test protocols for model development.
• Develop material test methods and electrochemical parameter databases.
• Incorporate aging, variation, and thermal effects into simulation frameworks.
• Document models, assumptions, and intended usage.
• Support EV execution by releasing models into full-vehicle co-sims.
• Apply statistics and ML to cell performance data.
• Improve analysis efficiency with variation and ML techniques.
