Position Title:Senior Vice President of Finance

Location:Remote with 50-60 % travel

BrightPet is a leading consumer brand and manufacturing company in the pet and companion animal industry. BrightPet pioneers a portfolio of widely recognized leading consumer brands, including Stewart, Bravo, Blackwood, Adirondack, By Nature, Miracle Care and Hamilton with holistic, natural, and organic solutions. The Stewart brand boasts the number one market share for freeze dried raw treats on all major digital retailers. Blackwood is exported to more than a dozen countries. BrightPet owns five manufacturing facilities and has unparalleled manufacturing capabilities in the pet industry. BrightPet is on an aggressive growth trajectory and has completed an expansion at four of the five manufacturing facilities in the last three years. This increased volume and expanded capabilities have allowed BrightPet to set new record revenue every year for eight straight years.

Position Justification:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President of Finance to lead our finance and IT functions of BrightPet, while also serving as an integral member of the BrightPet executive team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the SVP of Finance will help develop and oversee implementation of the short- and long-term strategic growth plan for the company. The SVP will be supported by the Manager of FP&A and the Business Intelligence/Information Technology Team and will guide and develop the Finance leads for the Operating entities (IBTs). The SVP will work closely with the Corporate Controller who will continue to oversee the accounting functions

Desired Background:

·Progressive experience managing and reporting financial results for manufacturing or CPG companies

·Presentation skills and ability to provide succinct conclusions on complex financial items

·Zero-based budgeting build up experience

·Strong understanding of cost accounting

·SQL/Python background is a plus

·Multi-site leadership is a plus

·Private equity experience is desired

·CPA is preferred

Core Duties:

· Thought Leader

oProvide valuable insights into overall business strategy

oProvide a financial viewpoint on risks and opportunities in the business

oOwn Risk Management and reporting in the business

oMonthly review of each legal entity’s financial statements. Understand financial performance and suggest and implement key actions to improve profitability

oPresentation of monthly result to executive team and Board of Directors

· Profitability

oWeekly review and presentation of sales to pinpoint gaps vs. budget and implement improvements

oApproval of new quotes for potential items/customers

oBuild up and implementation of standard costs at kibble facilities to better identify profitability by SKU

oQuarterly pricing reviews to determine gaps in profitability and provide recommendations on pricing adjustments (led by Director of Finance, Co-Man)

oSupport standardization of discount allocation for branded sales and negotiate terms with large retail partners (led by Director of Finance, Brands)

· Critical Partner to Operations

oAlong with BI/IT team and operations, implement a transparent order-to-ship process to provide clear operational goals and improve customer service

oReview and support financial returns of Capital Projects (will be led by Controllers)

oImplement standard costing for better production scheduling

· Treasury Management

oWeekly review of cash flow prepared by Corporate Controller to balance initiatives and improve overall cash flow of BrightPet

oImprove cash flow through inventory management and targets

oLead quarterly Board meeting planning and communication

· Budgeting, Financial Modelling, & Forecasting

oLead annual zero-based budgeting process across all business divisions

oOwn 5-year operating model

oImplement rolling 3-month forecasts for volume and profitability

oComplete ad hoc reforecasts based on changes in the business (at least semi-annually)

oComplete quarterly covenants and lead communication with lenders

· Legal Review

oReview customer, vendor, and broker contracts for high level legal review

oAcross all initiatives, utilize best practices for automation and AI to better leverage role

Essential for Success:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, public accounting, business management, international business, economics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven experience a senior leadership finance focused role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of managing teams effectively.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible as required and communicate cross functionally with internal partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time

Professional office and manufacturing environment. Performance in this position will occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, in certain areas, the use of personal protection equipment will be required. Floors may be wet and slippery when in the manufacturing area and you will be exposed to temperatures around 40 degrees when on the manufacturing floor. Primary office environment is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
